Hidalgo,Tx

We went to a little town south of Mcallen for a Festival of Light show. They put on a great show they have a meriachi band that is second to none. As you can see by the sky it poured down rain so they held the show inside but between the rain I was able to take some pictures of some of the displays

Went to the new ROD park at Glen Rose,Tx. Very nice park ,big, clean and quiet but I think this park could be hectic in the summer as it appears to be a family park picture is of the court house square several towns around here have historic districts. Well worth visiting
WinStar casino at Thackerville,Ok. has expanded 10 fold just one of the sides of the casino.

Once again we have Wi-Fi so latest update .We went to Turner Falls north of Thackerville,Ok .Unable to go down to the park due to high water but was able to take this picture .Turner Falls is approx 50 miles north of Thackerville There is a charge when its open. But you can view the falls if you go up the road fdrom the park onthe main road about 1 or 2 miles there is a old stone building and if you park by it you can observe the falls.

We visited the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City.If you have never been and you have a chance do go.It is a shopping plaza that is very upscale.Kansas City has more fountains than any other city in the world with the exception of Rome. These are but a few that are located in the plaza.

Some of the architecture in the plaza ,It is modeled after the Moorish influence. At Christmas time the plaza is lit up with millions of lights that is a site to be seen.

Well we finnaly arrived at Sault Ste Marie after several days from Chenney,Wa on the Hi-Line ( US 2 ) a trip we always wanted to do. Would not do it again was a very boring trip very little scenery. I thought that ( US 50 ) across Nevada was the lonliest road but this tops it. The pctures are of Soo Locks and the campground at Ojibwa Casino at Marquette,Mi.
Also picture of Vistor Center at Marquette With unusual tree art at the side of the building. If you are ever in Marquette check out the flowers that line the main road thru town.

High Line (US2)

Well here we are crossing the High Line Highway ( US 2 ). We left Spokane and are now in ND. It has been extreme heat 90+.Last 2 days we have seen relief due to rain just in the 70,s. We stopped in watford city,Mt. Went down to Teddy Roosevelt Nat'l Park just 15 min. from highway 2. The park is split into 2 parts the north unit and the south unit the north was much more interesting. The south unit was approx. 85 miles south of the north unit. Appears to be next to no cell phone service most of Mt. & ND except in the big city's which are few and far between. The pictures above are of Teddy Roosevelt Nat'l Park North Unit.We saw Bison, Ferrell horses, Prairie Dogs & Deer. No elk which they say are many. The town of Medora appears to be a tourist trap. On the way we stopped at the geographical center of North America at Rugby,ND. the first picture

Went to local attraction 17 mi north of Soap Lake called Dry Falls Visitor Center
About 20 million years ago, during the Miocene Epoch, the landscape of Central Washington consisted of mountains, valleys, streams and lakes. One of the largest basaltic lava floods ever to appear on the earths surface engulfed about 63,000 square miles of the Pacific Northwest. Beginning about 17 million years ago,and lasting about 11 million years, lava flow after lava flow poured from the earth. These piled one on top of the other til it was about 2 miles thick.
With the beginning of the Pleistocene Epoch about 1 million years ago,a cooling climate provided conditions favorable to the creation of great sheets of moving ice, called glaciers. A lake in northwest Montana, played an important role in the formation of Dry Falls. As the lake grew in size, it eventually broke through the ice dam, unleashing a tremendous volume of water. The Dry Falls was a result it is 3.5 miles wide and a drop of more than 400 ft.Compared to Niagara which is 1 mile wide and a drop of only 165 ft

Campground at Soaplake has been very very HOT middle 90's all week
View from campground at Soap Lake facing the town. Unfortunatly no stores except local ma & pa. The closest stores are in Ephrata,Wa .Super WalMart & Safeway.
